Rat Race Man vs Mountain
The run went from Caernarfon to Llanberis, and up to the summit of Snowdon, before coming down the Llanberis path and into the quarries behind town which had a ‘Vertical Kilometer’ (about 1km with 400m of ascent), a water jump from a 5m platform into a quarry pool, a kayaking loop and a near-vertical water slide into the lake. All in all, a good but tough day out over 23 miles and 5,000ft+ of height gain. Pete Both overcame all these obstacles to finish in a fantastic time of 7:06:58.
Mendip Marauder Ultra 30 miles
This was Anna Patrickson first ever Ultra (30 miles) race. She was accompanied by the experienced Steve Perry. They ran from Wells to Weston-Super-Mare, along the Mendip way, passing places like Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge. It was a hilly trail route and, despite taking a wrong turn or two (!!!), they finished in 18th and 19th place, with Anna as the 2nd lady in a superb time 5:48:00. Steve Perry also recorded a time of 5:48:00.
