Wiltshire Schools Track & Field Championships

At the Wiltshire Schools Track & Field Championships a number of juniors represented Salisbury Schools. There were extremes of weather as the high temperatures were interrupted by a thunderstorm. Jacob Earl earned two PBs when he won the High Jump with a leap of 1.63m, and Javelin with a throw of 44.28m. Katlin Miller won the Inter U17 Ladies Discus with a PB throw of 36.28m, placing her 5th nationally. She will now compete in the South West Championships for Wiltshire.

Marlborough Quad Challenge

On an unusually overcast morning a squad of talented junior multi-eventers travelled to Marlborough College on Sunday for the Marlborough Quad challenge, a small but perfectly formed annual competition between Marlborough Juniors, Swindon & Salisbury.

In the U11 Boys Samuel Bryant, Stanley Stuart, Theo Gandon, Jacob Dowding & Elijah Randall competed in the 75m, Long Jump, Vortex and 600m, with Rowan Gilbert finishing bagging 2nd place on the podium.

In the U11 Girls, competing in the same events were Lilli-Rose Vahid, Josie Jackson, Charlie Howell, Fiona Taylor, Darcey Willock & Elsa Nicholson. They battled against a strong squad from Marlborough and performed well in every event.

U13s and above competed in the 100m, long jump, 800m and, going back to their quadkids roots, the Vortex

In the U13 Girls Isla Gabriel, Ava Jackson and Elara Jacobs competed, with Elara racing away with her 800m heat in style.

Our strongest team was in the U15s Girls, and in a very good field Olivia Kearns finished the four events in first place overall, Lilli Clements-Champion was second, brilliantly backed up by Emily Bryant, Beth Bament and Bethany Denbury who all finished well up the results table.

In the U17 Women Kaitlin Miller won all four events posting a massive 299 points to win the event overall.

Salisbury Plain Half Marathon

The sun beat down mercilessly on the runners in the Salisbury Plain Half Marathon. Di Mattingly was 8th female in 2:01:53.

Westbury 5K

Father and Son duo David and Matthew Gervais took on the Westbury 5K, as they raced around an industrial estate. Young buck Matthew beat his dad by over a minute, in a time of 17:26. David finished in a amore sedate time of 18:36.

Millfield Track & Field

CoSARC’s juniors, competing for Bishop Wordsworth School and South Wilts Grammar School (SWGS), all performed superbly as the extremely hot weather continued. SWGS did very well to finish 3rd overall.
