CoSARC Runners Perform Well in Challenging Races

Will Ewens, representing his Regiment, and Matt Bosworth, representing his Corps, put in outstanding performances in the Army 10K Championships at Castle Coombe race circuit writes Vasen Moodley.

Will clocked an impressive time of 34:15, which saw him finish 6th out of a field of 199. Matt meanwhile managed a season’s best of 37:15, which was enough for his Regiment to win the Army Inter-Unit Championship Minor Team category.

Phil Perry took on the tough Enigma Running Challenge in Milton Keynes. This involved the competitors running three marathons in three days!

Phil Perry 'fresh' after 3 Marathons in 3 Days

On day one Phil came second out of 50 runners in a time of 3:30:26, despite a strong headwind. On day 2 the weather was perfect for running a marathon and Phil came home in a slightly slower time of 3:40:27, finishing in 5th place. The weather was again perfect on day three. For his finale Phil fought and won a mental battle with himself to finish in 4th place in 3:44:32. Phil’s average for three marathons in three days was an awesome 3:38:00. This was also his 78th competitive marathon.

On a cloudy, but dry day over six thousand runners took part in the Reading Half marathon.

CoSARC's Sarah Wheeler collects her first (of many?) Half Marathon medals

Sarah Wheeler, competing in her first road half marathon, finished in an excellent time of 2:08:01, beating her previous best in training by three minutes.

There was a great atmosphere on the streets, and the crowd lining the route gave the runners amazing support as they finished in the Madjeski Stadium.
