Salisbury Parkrun PBs
Salisbury Parkrun got off to a cool start and gradually got warmer with bright sunshine. Anton Weatherhead, who is emigrating to New Zealand next week, finished on a high with a glorious double when he finished first and got a PB time of 15:57. We wish Anton all the very best as he prepares to battle the Kiwis. Michelle Boucher also had an excellent run with a PB time of 27:04, beating her previous best by 40 seconds.
Triple Triumph for Emily
Emily Bryant shone as CoSARC’s sole representative in the Devon Track and Field Open in Plymouth. There was plenty of tough competition from many Devon and Cornwall based clubs. Despite the recent heat wave rain fell to leave the track soggy and slippery, before brightening up in the afternoon. Emily didn’t let the conditions affect her commitment as she stormed her way to victory in the 100m, 200m and Long Jump. The icing on the cake was a PB of 4.20m in the Long Jump.
London Mini-Marathon South West Trials Taunton
CoSARC was represented by a number of young athletes at the London Mini-Marathon South West trials in Taunton. Competitors earned the right to compete based on their performances in XC and Track during the season. Freddie Bosworth did very well to finish 2nd in his age category. His superb achievement qualified him for the London Mini Marathon, to be held the day before one of the most popular public road races in the world, the London Marathon.
Compton Bassett 5 Mile
Wiltshire Road Race League event, the Compton Bassett 5 Mile, took place on a warm and cloudy morning. The fast and flat course looped past the hamlet of Highway, before heading back to Compton Bassett. Kieran McManus finished in an excellent time of 33:48:90.
