virtual salisbury 10 race releases more spaces

Updated: Dec 7, 2020

The Salisbury 10 Virtual Race has released more spaces, these additional entries can be booked online and cost £7.50 with the proceeds being donated to the Samaritans charity. Participants have until 31st December 2020 to complete their run and they can choose to run either the usual Salisbury 10 route or their own 10 mile route and still receive the t-shirt and beautifully designed bespoke medal. Some entrants have already completed their virtual races and City of Salisbury Athletics and Running Club who organise the event hope that more athletes will enjoy taking part.

As previously reported, the Salisbury 10 mile road race had to be cancelled earlier in the year, just two weeks before the event due to Lockdown and had already incurred costs for t-shirts, medals and trophies.

City of Salisbury Athletics and Running Club, Chairman, Stuart Holloway said “This year would have marked the 25th anniversary of the Salisbury 10, the flagship event of our club. We had planned an exciting weekend of events to mark it, in conjunction with the 800th anniversary of Salisbury’s beautiful cathedral, which could not go ahead due to Covid-19. However, the club is proud to invite athletes to take part in the Salisbury 10, albeit in a virtual form!”

Sadly, due to the ongoing restrictions and uncertainty the race will not be held in 2021. The race is organised solely by volunteers and this makes it difficult to arrange the race in an alternative format, that is considered COVID-safe for the 1000 entrants and 100 volunteers.
