On a blustery day, interspersed with torrential rain, CoSARC juniors took part in the English Schools Athletics Association Cross Country Schools Cup Final in Newquay, Cornwall.
The course was technically demanding, and the spectacular hills gave the runners little time to recover in between ascents. There were 770 finishers across the different categories, who all did exceptionally well in trying conditions.
Their finishing positions were :
Junior girls : Sophie Wood 6th, Sophie Hayakawa 10th, Sophia Bailey 68th, Esme White 87th, Olivia Barnett 119th. The team worked hard for a fabulous 2nd place finish out of 27 teams in their category.
Senior girls : Alice Snow 94th. The team finished in a creditable 7th place out of 25 teams.
Intermediate boys :
Hari Chowdhury 140th.
Senior boys :
Lukas Bailey 39th, Tom Wood 66th, Guy Mitchell 103rd, Ed Klein 139th. The team were
well placed in 18th position in a field of 26 teams.
On a chilly day marathon man Phil Perry ran the Saturn Running Marathon in Staines-Upon-Thames on Saturday. With metronomic efficiency Phil ran every kilometre at a pace of 5:16 - 5:28.
Five mudlarks from CoSARC did a spot of parkrun touring when they visited Itchen Valley Country parkrun.
Vicky Robinson 25:16, Heather Hitchens 26:17, Lisa Milner 28:39, Linda Robson 28:42 and Esther Horwood 30:10 all had fun finding several large muddy puddles to plough through.
