Young athletes beat the heat at Basingstoke

A team of City of Salisbury’s bright prospects for the future gave a good account of themselves in the Wessex Young Athletes fixture at Basingstoke despite the weekend’s heatwave.

Personal best performances were the prize for Lola Darch in the 200m, Emily Glover in the 800m, Lottie Fotheringham in the high jump, Amelia Watling in the long jump, and Tina Nhamoinesu in the 100m.

William Fotheringham broke the age group club record for the javelin, Lucy Wilkinson won her category in the javelin too and Molly Hole leapt to a season’s best in the high jump.

Their success was all the more remarkable given that the club’s access to the running track at Five Rivers is less this season than previously.
