Meet
The Coaches
| Simon
Adlard |
Simon qualified as a level 2 coach some three years ago and
concentrates on our middle to long distance athletes. Simon has coached
and mentored a number of Salisbury AC athletes who have progressed to
compete regionally and nationally.
Simon is a keen and enthusiastic member of the coaching team and is
available for coaching and advice on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the
middle and distance runners training sessions. Simon is also a
qualified England Athletics Official Level 2/3 and a Starter/Marksman,
working towards a full level 3 national grade. |

| Martin
Phillips |
Martin is Salisbury AC's sprint coach and is currently working towards
his level 4 performance coaching qualification.
An experienced sprinter himself, Martin is an active track and field
competitor and manages Salisbury AC's sprint team. Since joining the
club in 1999, Martin has made a significant impact on the success of
our sprinters and can boast a number of county, regional and national
champions including a recent schools national champion.
Martin also works closely with Wiltshire and South West Athletics on
coaching co-ordination and performance squad management. |

| Sue
Hazzard |
Sue started coaching in 2000. She was bitten by the athletics bug
having encouraged her own two children to join Salisbury AC and is now
an established level 2 middle distance coach. Sue is much loved by our
young athletes and she manages our very talented and enthusiastic Young
Athletes League team.
Sue is now continuing to study for her level 3 coaching qualification
but still finds time to train hard herself and stay fit enough to
compete in no less than 5 London marathons. |

| Dave
Amey |
Dave joined the local Salisbury athletics club back in 1957 and after
more than 50 years he is still a huge influence within Salisbury AC and
actively coaching. Dave is passionate about athletics and began his
coaching career in 1980.
Since then he has influenced and mentored scores of athletes with an
array of county, regional and national winners to his name. Henrietta
Paxton, ex English schools Long jump champion, Michelle Smith and
Veryan Weeks are just some of the illustrious athletes to have
benefitted from Dave’s coaching. Dave's philosophy is 'Improvement
will always follow on from work and dedication'. |

| Dean
Casella |
Dean qualified as a level 2 coach 3 years ago and is currently working
towards his level 3, following the developmental pathway. Dean
predominately plans and coaches the Salisbury Swifts (9-11) and junior
athletes but is also able to coach various disciplines both track and
field.
As a professional coach Dean sees many young athletes in their school
environment and is forging links between local schools and the club.
Dean joined the club eight years ago and is keen to pass on his
knowledge and skills to our growing number of younger athletes. |

| Andy
Scrase |
Friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable Andy helps to coach the
inception athletics squad - The 'Salisbury Swifts' many of whom have
gone on to become established and successful young athletes.
Andy teaches at a local Salisbury school and keeps fit competing in
cross country and road race disciplines. |

Angel |
An established long jump coach, Andy has a wealth of knowledge and
experience which has influenced and created a number of talented
Salisbury AC long-jumpers over the years.
We are fortunate enough to have Andy’s help with our track and field
athletes during our Tuesday and Thursday sessions. |
